Serving the public and private business sectors, Western Marine’s fifty-seven years in business represents a wide-ranging portfolio of projects, the majority completed throughout the State of Alaska. The projects are managed and operated with significant owner involvement and vary widely to include consultation, design and construction services, and freight/barging logistics.
Specialized marine capabilities include remote tug and barge mobilization, pile driving, underwater blasting and excavation, rock breakwaters, underwater drilling and socketing, pile anchor systems, in-water pipelines, fuel systems, fire systems, outfalls, diving, salvage and surveying.
Additionally, Western Marine has completed many upland projects such as radar installations, buildings, roads, bridges, utilities, demolition, generator installation, abutments, rip-rap protection, fish passages, rock quarries, and environmental clean-up.
Working from offices and construction staging yards in Seattle, WA and Juneau, AK, Western Marine owns and operates heavy marine and construction equipment. This equipment includes, barges, tugs, survey vessels, cranes, excavators, loaders, off-road trucks and related support equipment. Certified equipment operators include tugboat captains, crane operators, divers, blasting, and first aid response personnel.
While delivering complex projects with a commitment to budget, timely performance, and quality work, Western Marine has also proudly demonstrated an impressive safety record, recognized by the United States Army Corps of Engineers for safety and achievement many times in recent years. This includes being nominated for the USACE Pacific Ocean Division “Construction Management Award” in 2004 and the USACE Alaska District “Contractor of the Year Award” in 2000 and again in 2013.
